007 Legends is a first-person shooter video game that was released on 16 October, 2012 on the PC, Playstation 3,Xbox 360 and on December 11th on Wii U. The game was part of the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise. It was written by screenwriter Bruce Feirstein (who co-wrote 1995's GoldenEye and wrote 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies) and Eurocom's Rob Matthews. 007 Legends covers memorable scenes from 6 of the 23 Bond films.
007 Legends is a single-player first-person shooter genre game featuring Daniel Craig's likeness as James Bond. Gameplay features an XP and levelling system and players can choose to upgrade specific weapons, gadgets, and Bond's abilities. Graphics were used on an updated version on previous Bond games made by Activision, Quantum of Solace and the 2010 re-make of GoldenEye 007.
The game features both online and offline multiplayer, supporting up to four person split-screen gameplay. Bond's Smartphone from Goldeneye: Reloaded returns with new features, and Bond also has use of a Dart-gun pen with tranquilizer, electro-shock and distraction darts.
Taking place after the opening but prior to the events of Skyfall, James Bond is shot and left for dead during a botched assignment in Istanbul. As his life hangs in the balance, he begins to remember his previous adventures — foiling Operation Grand Slam, the assault on Piz Gloria, his vendetta against drug kingpin Franz Sanchez, his encounter with Gustav Graves, and thwarting billionaire industrialist Hugo Drax's plot to kill the entire human race. Straight after his return to the present day, Bond realizes that he's still alive. He tracks down Patrice, whom he was after in the very beginning of the game, to Shanghai where he stops an assassination plot and eliminates the hitman.
The game presents a What if? scenario where all of the "classic" Bond adventures have taken place during the six-year gap between the storylines of Quantum of Solace and Skyfall.
007 Legends features six missions derived from six different Bond films. One movie from each official Bond actor is featured in the game, although Daniel Craig's likeness is appearing as 007 in all missions.
1. Goldfinger (Sean Connery)
2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (George Lazenby)
3. Licence to Kill (Timothy Dalton)
4. Die Another Day (Pierce Brosnan)
5. Moonraker (Roger Moore)
6. Skyfall (Daniel Craig)
Characters from the original films appear in each mission based on the original actors who played them. The exceptions are Felix Leiter, who is based on the likeness of Demetri Goritsa. Giacinta "Jinx" Johnson, who is based on the likeness of Gabrielle Montaraz (who was originally cast to play the part in the film). Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is an amalgamation of the three actors who played him, (Donald Pleasence, Telly Savalas, Charles Gray), and Holly Goodhead, who is based on the likeness of Jane Perry rather than Lois Chiles.
